Designer Reflection Journal Assignment

 

The artist I choose to reflect upon is Zipeng Zhu. His artistic approach follows a pop art and vibrant style that includes many advertisements along with pride centered campaigns. The specific artwork featured above appears on the cover of Renegades of Fashion, a book that is centered around the designer Jeremy Scott and his contributions to the fashion industry. Within the piece there are nods to specific brands such as McDonalds, Adidas, Moschino, and Nickelodeon; displaying some of the designers Scott has collaborated with. With the eyes being placed at the center of the piece, it draws your gaze to the eyes that display a stern yet comforting stare. The vast contrast of colors and elements between the different sections of the piece, draws your eye to each component individually and gives off balance although the artwork itself is very busy and colorful.
